When published in June 2016, A Guidebook to Natural Areas of Southern Indiana will be the first, comprehensive guide for eco-travelers who want to explore wild and natural Southern Indiana, via trail, water, or road. Its pages and 100 color images will provide detailed information on 119 Southern Indiana natural areas, including how you get to them, what to do when you arrive, and what you will find when you explore.

Practical details are supplemented with facts, anecdotes, and observations on each site’s unique natural characteristics and human and natural histories from Steven Higgs, one of Indiana’s senior environmental writers and photographers. The award-winning journalist, who operates NaturalBloomington Ecotours & More, traveled more than 4,500 miles in a year for this project.

Make a contribution of $35 or more to support Steve’s work, and he will:

- Reserve a signed copy of A Guide to Natural Areas of Southern Indiana,

- Donate 10% of the (estimated) $28 list price to the Hoosier Chapter Sierra Club,

- Mail you a copy when it’s released, and

- Put anything that’s left over to good use.

“In this guidebook, Steven Higgs has compiled and written a hundred times more good, useful information about my native state's natural treasures than I ever learned in eighty years of crawling, hiking, riding, swimming, and paddling all over them.”
-- James Alexander Thom, Foreword to A Guide to Natural Areas of Southern Indiana
